Job Description

The Infrastructure Technician role will support the Dicom IT infrastructure and ensure the smooth operation of the IT systems in order to provide maximum performance and availability for employees, customers and partners.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Administration and maintenance of server (Windows, Centos, Vmware ESXI, Citrix)
  • Server Hardware installation, configuration and troubleshooting is required
  • Manage Active Directory privileges, access rights and computer environment using group policy
  • Troubleshooting network environment issues and improving processes
  • Monitor and expand Anti-virus solutions for Dicom Head Office and Branches
  • Maintenance and management of network components (Switches, Routers, Firewall, Wifi)
  • Maintain and ensures WAN, LAN and other telecom services to meet reliability needs
  • Support VOIP Cisco phone system
  • Ensure backups of all enterprise data are being performed as per scheduling
  • Configuring backups for live servers, storage and switche.
  • Evaluate and propose solutions to improve the IT infrastructure 
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.

Work Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is a quiet, professional office.
  • Occasional travel to a warehouse environment will be required

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • Related education in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an IT infrastructure role
  • MCSE, virtualization, and security certifications an asset
  • Experience administering GMAIL environments, Active Directory and Windows Domains, VPNs and remote access, preferably with SonicWall
  • Experience with installation, support and maintenance with many desktop/client applications
  • Must have a valid passport and able to enter the United States
  • Willing to work off-hours during required system projects
  • Prepared to work after hours IT support call rotation
  • Independent, self-motivated with strong follow-up skills
  • Capable of working in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012, 2012 R2 and 2016
  • Web Servers, IIS, Apache and Tomcat
  • SQL Server 2005, 2008 and 2012, MySQL Server
  • WiFi access point administration in a managed environment
  • Windows XP, 7, 8 and 10
  • VMware ESXi 4 and 5, virtual machines and virtualization
  • Active Directory and group policy
  • Windows Domain Management
  • VPN, Spam/Virus Firewall and back-up
  • Cisco VPN, access points, router point to point links, routers and switches
  • DNS and DHCP Server
  • Ubuntu, Fedora and Redhat Linux

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Microsoft certified a plus
