Night shift lead hand in Hamilton at Dicom

Job Description

We are looking for a Night Shift Lead hand  to ensure proper functioning of the sort, his team and of the warehouse.

Main responsibilities


  • Manage and supervising 26 warehouse employees (Forklift Operators, Sorters, Coders and brokers);
  • Manage Lead-Hand, Dispatch Billing Clerk and Problem Shipment Clerk;
  • Ensuring availability and proper positioning of all Dicom Brokers;
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the dock;
  • Ensure error-coding issues are corrected;
  • Validate and prepare daily production reports;
  • Confirm employee payroll; validating daily working hours;
  • Responsible for efficient operation of warehouse equipment and operation;
  • Ensure minimal set-up for the AM team.

 Secondary responsibilities


  • Implement preventive measures relating to accurate parcel handling;
  • Train Lead Hand and employees for transitional purposes
  • Ensure proper warehouse maintenance by employees;
  • Meet with employees regarding hiring or disciplinary measures;
  • Check and respond to operational emails;
  • Attend meetings with the Terminal Manager;
  • Meet candidates interviewed for open positions;
  • Calculate productivity;
  • Justifying Misdirect parcel errors
  • Validate and prepare productivity reports
  • Meet with Lead-Hand and PM dock staff.


Main challenge


  • Ensure proper training of employees in order to ensure compliance with prescribed parcel processing delays


Business/Work relations
  • Communicates daily with Terminal Manager
  • Communicates directly with Sorters, Coders and Lead Hand
  • Maintains a line of communication with all management
  • Communicates with Dicom Freight Supervisors
  • As needed, communicates with employment agencies
  • Occasionally communicates with Dicom Freight Dispatchers
  • Communicates with Quality Assurance personnel
  • As needed, communicates with the company’s payroll department
  • Communicates with the HR Department

Job Requirements

Main Responsibilities

 Establish and execute the necessary steps to solve the problem or request (ex : order
processing and tracing parcels)
 Taking charge of the case from beginning to end
 Project confidence and establish a relationship with the customer to ensure maximum
 Communicating with different members of the company; drivers, dispatch, warehouses,
supervisors, sales, priority shipping
 Responding to inquiries through phone and email
 Offer products and services that can simplify customer needs
 Perform other related tasks

Position requirements


  • University or College degree
  • Training in freight handling
  • Leadership
  • Good communication skills
  • Resourcefulness
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • 2 years experience in employee supervision
  • Warehousing experience



Working conditions


  • Flexible work schedule
  • 90% of the time working in a standing position in the warehouse
  • 10% of the time working with a computer
  • Variable weather conditions

Hours: 11:30 pm to 8 am
